The Ottawa Redblacks didn’t lose, but they didn’t win either — the lack of one lousy yard and a dropped interception.
The end result was a 26-26 tie against the Calgary Stampeders at TD Place stadium on Friday night, but that still left the Redblacks (2-0-1) as the Canadian Football League’s lone undefeated squad.
The Stampeders are now 1-1-1.
The Redblacks had a chance to avoid overtime altogether, but recently signed running back Nic Grigsby fumbled just shy of the goal-line on second-and-one with less than three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Then in overtime, safety Jermaine Robinson dropped what would have been a game-ending interception, and that allowed the Stampeders to stay alive.
“It feels like it’s one we could have had and we let it get away,” Redblacks slotback Ernest Jackson said. “Right now, we learn from it and move on toward the next goal.”
